is from
our very
own
Boston,
Mass.
She is a
creative
mind and
designer
in her
own
way.
Loving
fashion
from
head to
toe,
from
clothes
to shoes
to
accessories,
Shanita
realized
that
while
she had
love for
the
fashion
you
wear,
she has
been
called
to make
her mark
in the
Hair and
Cosmetology
Industry.
Graduating
from
UMass
Amherst
with a
BS in
Legal
Studies
and
Sociology
(conc.
in
Criminal
Justice)
in 2005,
Shanita
began
working
for a
prominent
State
law
enforcement
Agency
and was
employed
with
them for
2 years
after
college.
But 6
months
in she
realized
that
while
she
loved
learning
the law,
practicing
it was
not her
forte
and
working
a 9-5
desk job
was not
for her
either.
It
constricted
her
creativity
and the
conservative
business
attire
was a
direct
obstruction
for her
need for
color,
flair,
and
Hair.
Four
years
later
Shanita
is now a
Licensed
Cosmetologist,
Natural
Hair
specialist,
and
award
winning
Stylist.
She
worked
at the
agency
to pay
off
Cosmetology
School
and
enrolled
into
LaNewton
School
of
Beauty
Culture
in
2006.
Within
her
first
month
she won
1st
Place in
Creativity
(February
2006) in
a
schoolwide
contest.
She
graduated
in 2007,
received
her
Cosmetology
license,
and went
straight
to work,
gaining
all the
real
life
experience
she
could
from
Salon
Ambiance
by
AlexAndrea’s.
While
here she
learned
more
about
caring
for and
manipulating
different
hair
textures,
product
knowledge,
and
health
care
from the
inside
out, and
is still
eager to
learn
more
because
she
knows
she has
only
scratched
the
surface.
Her
latest
accomplishment
is
winning
1st
Place at
the 2009
Jubilee
Women’s
Conference
Hair
Show in
May
2009.
Shanita
puts a
modern
twist on
natural,
relaxer
free,
loc'd,
and/or
chemical
free
hair, proving
that
once you
know
what you
are
working
with you
can
accomplish
anything.
Buns,
chignons,
bouiffants,
rolls
and
twists,
curls,
updos,
pincurls,
and
gravity
defying
hair!"
